Jeff’s marimba tuning page is the most detailed and authoritative source on the internet for how a marimba makes sound! There are loads of graphics and how the different overtones are produced.

My absolute favorite part of the page is about halfway down called “Waveforms of complex tones”. It breaks down the 3 main overtones that you hear when you strike a marimba bar.
